About Your Benefits

The State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) has contracted with Marathon Health to operate the HealthQuest Health Center in Topeka. Marathon Health ensures the privacy and confidentiality of individual information at all times. The same rules that protect an individual's privacy at a local physician's office protect your information at the health center.

The Center is open to all employees, spouses and dependent children over age 2 covered by SEHP medical insurance. SEHP members will need to make an appointment and bring their insurance card to prove eligibility for service.

All preventive visits are provided free of cost regardless of health plan enrollment. Healthcare services are provided at  no cost for Plan A members. Medical visits will require a $40 fee for members with Plans C, J, N, and Q.

    Lab Services

    Blood work and lab tests processed at the center include hemoglobin A1C, lipid panel, glucose, rapid strep, mono, urinalysis, oxygen saturation, and pregnancy. Additional lab tests can also be drawn and sent to an outside lab for processing. 

    Virtual Services

    For all of Marathon Health's virtual care services, clinicians interact with members through a secure live video interface or by phone (depending on the member's preference). Video appointments are launched via the Marathon Health ePortal, making it easy for members to access appointments from the location that is most convenient.

    Meet the HealthQuest Health Center Staff

    Joe Reynolds, Doctor of Osteopathy

    Dr. Joe Reynolds is a doctor of osteopathic medicine who has been working in healthcare since 2008. He is excited to  bring his family medicine skills to the HealthQuest Health Center where he can help eligible members achieve the health outcomes they’re looking for.

    Dr. Reynolds was born in west Kansas City and spent his childhood growing up in the area. He decided to return home so he could be close to his family and raise his children among the communities of the good Midwest. In his spare time, Dr. Reynolds loves vacationing with his family, boating, fishing, camping, and reading a good book.

    Sally Anderson, Family Nurse Practitioner

    Sally is a family nurse practitioner at the HealthQuest Health Center. She received both her Master of Science in Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washburn University. Sally was awarded Employee of the Quarter at her previous role at Stormont Vail HealthCare, and also won the Pusitz Award there for her compassionate care and communication with patients. Her various other clinical skills include the ability to assess, diagnose, and prescribe treatment for acute illnesses, as well the knowledge to provide continuous assessment and treatment for chronic diseases like diabetes. She can also help you with your annual physical or wellness exam. Schedule an  appointment with Sally today!

    Pam Thomas, Family Nurse Practitioner

    Pam is a board certified family nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience. She graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Cedar Crest College. Pam earned her Master’s degree in nursing and nurse practitioner certification from Widener University. She moved to Kansas, along with her husband in 2016 to be closer to their son. She believes teaching patients about their health and body is the best way to stay well. Pam looks forward to bringing this passion to the State of Kansas. In her spare time, Pam enjoys spending time with her family, reading, gardening, and all things outdoors.

    Megan Ross, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

    Megan is a licensed clinical professional counselor who graduated from Doane University with her Master of Arts in Counseling in 2011. She has more than ten years of experience working with children and their families, nine years in crisis intervention, and more than three years with suicide risk assessment and prevention. Megan has a strong belief that mental and physical health are intertwined. She is excited to work with patients from the State of Kansas to help them achieve their wellness goals. When she isn’t practicing, Megan enjoys being outdoors and active with her two
    dogs.

    Susan Hellman, Registered Nurse and Health Coach

    After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004 from Union University, Susan went on to work for the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. Over the course of more than ten years, Susan held roles there as an operating room circulating nurse and as a charge and procedure nurse in the pain clinic. She also served as registered nurse in the Occupational Health Department and spent four years as the director of that unit. Susan is a proud mother of four children who enjoys exercising, reading, and gardening in her spare time.

    Angela Jacobs, Medical Assistant

    Angela is a national certified medical assistant with more than ten years of experience in the medical field. With her optimistic and caring nature, she uses her knowledge to take the vitals of her patients, prepare and administer medications and injections, perform EKGs, remove sutures and staples, and conduct routine lab tests. Angela is also certified in adult CPR/AED. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to help patients directly and share with them
    all that Marathon Health has to offer. Angela enjoys reading and getting outside by walking her two dogs.

    Esther Figueredo, Medical Assistant

    It was Esther’s childhood dream to work in healthcare. She achieved that goal in 1987 and has been working in the field ever since. Esther has many skills as a medical assistant, including her ability to complete routine laboratory tests, take patient vitals and medical histories, perform EKGs, administer vaccines, remove sutures, and schedule appointments. She has also worked as a medical interpreter, using her proficiency with English and Spanish to serve as a cultural mediator and document translator in various medical situations. In her spare time, Esther enjoys going outdoors
    and reading about topics that interest her.

    Kelsie Flickinger, Practice Support Specialist

    A medical assistant, Kelsie has been working in the medical field since 2013. She has worked in long-term care, cardiology, weight management, dermatology, and pediatrics. Kelsie has many skills as a medical assistant, including taking patient vitals and medical history, performing EKGs, administering vaccines, removing sutures, and scheduling appointments. Kelsie is certified in adult CPR/AED. Kelsie is passionate about helping others and loves to meet new
    people. In her free time, Kelsie enjoys traveling and spending time and making memories with her husband and two children.
